The Western Fair Youth Talent Search is set to launch its 2009 edition. Throughout the summer, young entertainers between the ages of 6 and 21 will perform at preliminary competitions held across Southwestern and Midwestern Ontario, hoping to win a chance to represent their area at the finals to be held at the 2009 Western Fair. In the senior division, ages 13 to 21, one act will ultimately be chosen to compete at the national championships in P.E.I. during November.

Since its inception, the “search” has touched the lives of thousands of talented youngsters and entertained tens of thousands of fair and festival patrons at contests held in cities, towns and villages from Barrie to Essex. In each area, local media continue to play a vital role in helping to spread the word that the “Search” is coming to town.

Western Fair proudly acknowledges the contribution of our media partners, in particular, Blackburn Radio Inc., for their outstanding support. CFCO Country 92.9 FM and 630 AM, 94.3 CKSY, The ROCK CKUE FM 95.1 and 100.7, CJSP Today’s Hits Mix 96.7 help to promote competitions in Essex, Ridgetown and Glencoe.

The Sarnia preliminary contest has tremendous support from Radio 1070 CHOK, The Fox 99.9FM and K106.3. Contestants representing Clinton, Listowel and Teeswater catch the action on CKNX AM920 or sister stations FM102 and The Bull 94.5.

Other individual stations providing promotional assistance are CJCS 1240 Stratford, CKOT 101.3 in Woodstock and CKPC1380AM Radio Brantford, who continue to be the media mainstay behind the Paris competition. In Tillsonburg, our thanks go to Rogers, The Tillsonburg News and CKOT 101.3 FM for helping to make that competition such a success.

Tune in to your favourite station and join in the search for this year’s winner!!
