Contract Position
Summary of Duties:
- Reports directly to the Technical Trades Personnel and indirectly to the
Property Services Manager.
- Performs a variety of manual tasks relating to the maintenance of the WFA
facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Will assist all trades as manual labourer – primarily in HVAC area – belts &
filters.
- May assist with shovelling, lifting, cleaning, etc.
- May assist in simple plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting projects.
- May be required to drive vehicles such as fork lift, electrical lift, scissor lift, man lift, golf carts/gators,
operates and maintains in a safe and professional manner.
- Heavy lifting is required.
- Must be physically fit and able to carry out the duties and assignments of this position.
- Maintain shops and all work areas clean and safe.
- May be required to work any and all shifts as assigned.
- Attend all departmental meetings as well as all safety and
professional development training sessions as directed.
- Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair Association Health & Safety Policy and Awareness Program/Safety Manual, all Western Fair Association procedures and
any other applicable legislation.
- Required to maintain paper work, including time sheets & log book.
- Assist in Fair set up.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum Secondary School Education – Grade 12.
- 1-6 months related work experience.
- Driver’s license.
- Work Boots/Shoes required.

Seasonal, Full-time, Contract Position
- Reports directly to the Landscape Supervisor and indirectly to the Property Services Manager.
- Performs general landscaping and grounds maintenance duties.
- Operates small engine lawn and garden equipment and hand tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleans the grounds as required including litter pick up and emptying garbage, recycling, and composting receptacles.
- Prepares garden beds including planting, transplanting, watering, weeding, cultivating, pruning, and fertilizing shrubs, annuals and perennials.
- Cuts and trims grass and mulches leaves.
- May assist with painting duties including surface preparation.
- May assist with the set-up/tear-down at special events.
- Safe, efficient operation and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Maintains all work areas in a clean and safe manner.
- Able to work outside in varying weather conditions and perform physical work.
- Able to work any scheduled shift including weekends.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies of the Western Fair Association.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or acceptable equivalent in experience.
- Previous work experience in landscaping, horticulture, agriculture an asset.
- Must be a reliable team player, able to work well independently.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
- Supply own CSA approved steel-toed work boots.
