The 2010 Western Fair is bullfrogpowered®—again!
The 135th Western Fair, which runs from September 10 to 19, 2010, is just days away and—for the second year in a row—event organizers have signed on for Bullfrog Power to help them provide a cleaner, greener event for customers. The 10-day fair is the premier family attraction in Southwestern Ontario and is consistently recognized as one of Ontario’s top 100 events. This year, over 200,000 visitors are expected to pass through the gates to experience the sights, sounds and scents of the Western Fair. |

Hamather’s Homebreds Hope For Spot In Molson Final
Long time Standardbred breeder and owner Bob Hamather has captured many of the sport’s top stakes events and on Friday night he has two homebred full brothers vying to earn a spot into the rich Molson Pace Final at his home track of Western Fair Raceway.
Hamather’s starters are the Camluck geldings Wholly Louy and Legal Litigator, both trained by three time O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s Trainer of the Year, Casie Coleman. Between the two brothers they’ve earned well over a million dollars to date.

Record Number For Molson Pace
A record total of 22 of the top free for all pacers in North America have been entered for eliminations of Western Fair’s signature event, the Molson Pace, led by Bigtime Ball who will make his first lifetime appearance at the London half-miler on Friday night.
Last year’s O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s Older Pacer of the Year, Bigtime Ball comes into Friday’s eliminations at Western Fair with three wins and a second in four starts so far in 2010, all in Open paces at Woodbine Racetrack. Owned and trained by Gord Irwin of Cobourg, Ontario, Bigtime Ball is a six-year-old son of Presidential Ball who has earned $1,174,673 to date in his career. |

Western Fair Association Keeps Youth Active in Agriculture
Promoting agriculture is important to the Western Fair Association.
The Junior Beef EXPO is an extra-special agricultural event, because it promotes youth involvement in the business of raising cattle.
Young people 21 years of age and under, and their families, will arrive at the Western Fair AGRIPLEX this week to participate in the 9th annual Western Fair Junior Beef Expo. These young agricultural entrepreneurs will showcase hand-reared heifers and steers in a livestock judging contest over a 2-day period. |

Bigmizndrstnding scored the first victory of his 2010 campaign in
today's $13,500 Preferred Pace at Western Fair Raceway.
Mike Sumner put the five-year-old son of No Pan Intended on the front
from the start and never looked back to win in 1:57.3. Oakley Seelster,
the winner in this class last week, sat second most of the race and came
within a nose of the winner but had to be content with second. Pacific
Oak was third. |

Western Fair Receives International Recognition
The Western Fair has received three, International Association of Fairs & Exhibitions (IAFE), Hall of Honour Communications - Awards of Excellence.
The Association’s signature event, the annual Western Fair, won first-place honours in the following categories: Outstanding Website, Outstanding Printed Promotional Brochure/Flyer and Outstanding Radio Communications. There are a total of 15 Communication Award categories, each divided into 5 divisions by attendance. Western Fair qualifies under Fairs with 101,000 to 250,000 in attendance. These awards are shared with Imantis Advertising Group, a London advertising agency who worked with Western Fair on this year’s advertising campaign. |

Join The Christmas Drive At Western Fair
Western Fair Raceway would like to encourage patrons and participants to join in their third annual toy drive to help the Salvation Army’s efforts to provide toys for deserving children in the London area.
Driver Brad Forward kick started the effort, as he donated all of his earnings from Western Fair’s card on Monday, an amount which was matched by the track, for a total of more than $1,100. Trainer Scott McNiven and his wife Kim are doing their part as well, as they have requested attendees to their annual Christmas party next week to bring a donation for the toy drive. |

Forward & McNair In Western Fair Battle
With less than a month remaining in 2009, the drivers’ title at Western Fair Raceway is between a two-time champion and a youngster just starting his career.
At 19 years old Doug McNair is enjoying his first full year in his chosen profession as a harness driver and currently sits first on the Western Fair drivers’ standings, 14 wins ahead of Brad Forward. Statistics aren’t kept on such things, but if McNair maintains that position he could easily become the first driver to ever be his track’s leading driver in his first year of competition. |

Emmylou Who Among Gold Contenders

Western Fair Association Celebrates EARTH HOUR
At 8:30pm on Saturday 28 March, Western Fair Association will support Earth Hour.
Around the globe, city skylines will go dark for one hour as individuals, businesses and buildings turn off non-essential lighting.
Western Fair Association has been a leader in our community, pursuing greening, recycling and energy reduction initiatives since the early 1990s. WFA began energy controls and energy efficient lighting initiatives in 1998 through “energy performance contracting.” The Association, for quite awhile now, has collected its food area - fryer oils for reuse, manure from agricultural areas for local mushroom farms, and a cardboard recycling program implemented in 1990 is still going strong. |

Junior Beef Expo
The Western Fair Association always looks for ways to promote agriculture. The Junior Beef EXPO is one of those ways and it’s extra-special because it is one of those events that gets kids involved in the business of raising cattle.
Open to all competitors 21 years of age and under as of January 1, 2009, the expo is a great opportunity for youth, because all prize money, for all sections of judging is scholarship based. |

Western Fair’s Family Funfest
Families ready to share some fun and laughs, as they usher in the much-loved March
Break, can’t wait to attend the 4th annual, three-day, FAMILY FUNFEST in the Western
Fair Agriplex.
This year’s FAMILY FUNFEST will be a three-day March Break boredom-buster -
March 14, 15 & 16. The entire family will enjoy a variety of FREE shows, plus indoor
rides, games and entertainment at London’s largest indoor kids’ carnival! |

WESTERN FAIR FARM SHOW
Welcome to the 71st edition of the Annual Western Fair Farm Show which is full of Farm Fresh Ideas for one and all. The event takes place next week, March 11, 12 &13 at the Western Fair Entertainment Centre. Show times are 10:00am - 8:30pm, Wednesday and Thursday and 10:00am-4:00pm on Friday. |

Western Fair Association Announces new CEO
Mr. Jack Davis, Chair of the Board of Governors, Western Fair Association, announced today the appointment of Hugh Mitchell as Chief Executive Officer of the Western Fair Association, effective March 1, 2009. Mitchell will replace current CEO Gary McRae, who will remain with the organization, for a short period, in an advisory capacity.
“The Board of Governors is pleased with the appointment of Hugh Mitchell to the role of CEO for the Western Fair Association,” said Jack Davis, Board Chair. “Our Board believes that Hugh is the ideal candidate to succeed Gary McRae. He is a leader with the energy, skills and experience an organization like the WFA needs to successfully position the Association for the future. ” |
