The first-ever 2007 London Auto Expo was not just a showcase of new cars and old cars, but a step towards a new family event in London.
With over 8300 in attendance, the expo was a success! Show Manager, Kris Dinel, who pulled this event together in just 10 weeks with the help of the London Auto Modifiers Club, Western Fair staff and an advisory committee consisting of Brian Love, London Auto Modifiers; John Stenabaugh, Dorchester Car Show; Stewart Brooks, California Carsmetics/Canadian Truck Nationals and Greg Fox of Fox’s Audio, stated that, “in spite of the relatively short preparation time, attendance was good for our first year, people who came to the show gave us a sense that we are on the right track and that gives me hope that there are bigger, better and shinier London Auto Expos ahead of us.”
This show offered a great array of diverse and fabulous vehicles displayed to dazzle, educate and inform customers; mainly men, but a number of new attendees were families enjoying a day out and taking in the appeal of vehicles of every make, model and vintage.
The driving needs of women, the skills of air-brushed car-art to the new generation of tweaked tuners, entertained young and old alike at the London Auto Expo. Patrons participated in tire changing challenges, seminars and one-on-one interaction with car enthusiasts from all-over south-western Ontario and parts of the United States.
Visitors and exhibitors of the London Auto Expo shared favourable comments with staff and many plan to return next year. Plans will soon begin for next year’s Expo with much more time for contemplation and arrangements for show content.
Staff is already considering a new themed area for environmentally sensible vehicles; a car auction, special tours for high school and college level auto-shop classes, high-profile drivers for autograph sessions and more family-themed fun and interactive activities.
