The Western Fair Association, south-western Ontario’s
leading event centre is pleased to announce the appointment
of Mr. Hugh Mitchell as its new Chief Operating Officer.
This new strategic position was created to accommodate the
ever increasing operational demands of the recent corporate
growth at Western Fair. In the last four years, the Association
has built a new race paddock, a parking lot at King and Ontario,
the Grandstand and Paddock Lounge have been renovated, a slot
lounge has been built and expanded upon, a bridge has been
erected to connect the Grandstand with a newly built Sports
Centre, 2 tunnels have been constructed under Florence Street,
the Agriplex has been erected and a new administration building
has been purchased and occupied as the new head office for
Western Fair Association.
Mr. Mitchell has worked for the Association in the past as
a manager of Racing, Sales and Marketing as well as Assistant
to the General Manager. He returns to the organization at
a time when the Board, management and staff are refocusing
their energies on creative new business strategies to utilize
our new facilities and sustain competitive and profitable
business units.
Mr. Mitchell left a 7 year career with Woodbine Entertainment
Group, his last titled held with that organization was Senior
Vice President of Racing. His management expertise, innovative
concepts and vision, combined with his previous knowledge
of the Association will be a perfect fit for new business
initiatives currently in the planning stage. Mr. Mitchell
re-joins his Western Fair family today, April 11, and we are
extremely happy to welcome Hugh back home.
