Western Fair Association’s big, beautiful tree carving, and in carver Robin Wenzoski’s opinion the best tree creation London has seen to date was completed today and is located in beautiful Queen’s Park adjacent to the Western Fairgrounds just off of Dundas Street.
Instead of cutting down a majestic old maple tree that had died, the Western Fair Association commissioned tree carver Robin Wenzoski to create a bit of outdoor art and commemorate the Association’s signature event, the annual Western Fair. A number of carved fair related characters were created, this winter, in Robin’s studio and were then applied to the trunk of the tree when the final carving of the tree took place this past week. The folksy characters embellishing the trunk of the tree will be familiar to fairgoers, with a number of agricultural animals and birds represented as well as a clown, ferris wheel and elements of fair entertainment. The creation of an outdoor tree sculpture in time for the annual Western Fair will be a new highlight for this year’s 132 Western Fair where many new adventures await. Though the sculpture will be a highlight of this year’s Fair the magnificent piece of outdoor artwork will be available for the public to enjoy for years to come in beautiful Queen’s Park.
