Wilkinsons, 60’s crooners Gary Lewis and The Playboys,
the SEA hits the shores of London with east coast legends
Great Big Sea, buckle-down for belly laughs with Wayne Brady,
star of “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and buckle-up

Trucks, Motocross, Demo Derbies, Rodeos and more. Tickets
for all of the 2006 Western Fair McDonald’s Grandstand
attractions will be on sale, beginning Saturday, July 8, 2006,
at all Ticketmaster locations.
"Since we started putting the word out
about some of these acts a few weeks ago, we've gotten a tremendous
amount of interest," said Dave Taylor, Annual Fair Manager
at the Western Fair Association. "Tickets go on sale
July 8, but we wish we could have been selling them weeks
ago. The buzz for all our acts has been great, we are really
excited about the McDonald’s Grandstand for 2006 and
the many improvements we’ve made to the annual event.”
George Canyon, a tall, modest 35-year-old Canadian
cowboy singer placed second in the USA Network’s Nashville
Star talent search in May 2004, instantly making him a household
name to millions of country fans. Canyon was thrust into the
spotlight at warp speed. Canyon grew up in Pictou County,
Nova Scotia, surrounded by folk, Celtic, country and rock
music. His first single from the album, “I’ll
Never Do Better Than You,” hit radio in late August
2004 and flew up the charts to #5 at Canadian Country radio.
His second single from the album, “My Name,” was
released in late January 2005 and the video was instantly
added to heavy rotation on CMT Canada where it went to #1
on the station’s Big 20 Countdown. “Who Would
You Be” was released to radio in summer 2005 and became
another top 10 smash for Canyon. “One Good Friend”
followed on October 24th, 2005.
The Wilkinsons, are a family group with great
chemistry and enthusiasm. Their music captivates, and inspires
a sense of peace with the way life evolves. With their first
album “Nothing But Love” they established themselves
as an act with a firm grip on both the sound and direction
of what their music was all about. Listening to their first
single “26Cents” it’s easy to see why the
group and the self penned tune garnered so much attention
from record labels and resulted in so many nominations and
awards.
Great Big Sea, the St. John's-based, Juno-nominated
band that fuses Newfoundland traditional music with modern
pop in a crowd-pleasing formula both heartfelt and vital is
a pure force of nature — much like the ocean surge they
take their name from. Great Big Sea's blend of instruments,
like mandolin, bodhran, fiddle, and concertina, along with
Newfoundland music and Newfoundland culture are both their
genesis, and their raison d'etre.
Gary Lewis and the Playboys, were discovered
in the summer of 1964. Before long, they took their first
single, “This Diamond Ring” straight to number
one. After their second hit titled “Count Me In”
went to number two, Gary and the band proved that they would
be a continued success. They followed with more Top 10 songs
such as “Save Your Heart For Me”, “Everybody
Loves A Clown”, “She’s Just My Style”,
“Sure Gonna Miss Her”, and many more. Gary Lewis
was the first and only artist during the 1960’s to have
his first seven releases reach Billboard magazine’s
Top 10 on the Hot 100 chart. Along with his appearances on
various popular television shows including “American
Bandstand”, “Hullabaloo”, and “The
Tonight Show”, Gary accumulated an impressive five appearances
within two years on the “Ed Sullivan Show”. With
the reoccurring interest in oldies music, Gary Lewis &
The Playboys are one of the hottest acts around.
Wayne Brady is perhaps one of the funniest
comedic actors on TV. His hilarious improvisational antics,
paired with his ability to impersonate just about anyone,
have won the laughs of many Americans on ABC's hit comedy
series "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
Wayne also starred in and produced "The
Wayne Brady Show," a primetime variety show for ABC.
He was also a series regular on the syndicated sketch comedy
show "Kwik Witz" and has hosted the VH-1 comedy
series, "Vinyl Justice," and "Countdown to
the American Music Awards. Wayne tours the country with his
own improv show, "Wayne Brady and Friends," and
is selling-out the nation’s top theatres and venues.
