An internal corporate restructuring was recently approved
by the Western Fair Board of Directors and takes effect immediately.
Denny Lang, W.F.A. President, states that “the quality
and professionalism of the leadership team that the Western
Fair Association has assembled will ensure that it continues
to be a creative and innovative leader in the Canadian Fair
and entertainment business.”
Western Fair is an exciting organization that has recently
completed a four-year transformation of its facilities and
is now positioned to advance the Association’s goal
of creating unique experiences that build positive memories.
Immediate changes to the composition of the Association’s
management structure reflect Western Fair’s future direction:
to operate new and existing facilities effectively for our
customers and provide a progressive workplace for our employees.
“Our Association’s immediate objective is to
fine tune its operating model to ensure that we remain relevant,
competitive and profitable through the coming years.”
said Hugh Mitchell, new Chief Operating Officer for the Western
Fair. “With this restructuring we have developed a more
centralized operating structure that will provide continuity
to our internal and external processes.”
Mr. McRae has had a long and respected career with the Association
beginning in 1975. For the last 13 years he has held the position
of General Manager and will now become the Chief Executive
Officer for the Association focusing on corporate visioning,
culture and corporate and community partnerships while overseeing
and steering the senior management team. Mr. McRae has been
a past president of the Canadian Association of Fairs and
Exhibitions (CAFÉ), Racetracks of Canada, and is currently
First Vice Chair of the International Association of Fair
and Exhibitions (IAFE) and President of Tourism London.
Mr. Mitchell has dedicated 14 years of his career to the Western
Fair Association and recently returned to the position of
Chief Operating Officer after a 7 year stretch as Senior Vice
President of Racing for the Woodbine Entertainment Group.
Mr. Mitchell will oversee day to day operations of the Association
including the Annual Fair, Racing and Gaming, Events and Facilities,
Agriplex, IMAX® and Food & Beverage.
Mr. Moore began his career with the Western Fair Association
in 1990 as Secretary-Treasurer and has held the position for
the last 15 years focusing on financial management and planning,
though his responsibilities have also encompassed the areas
of Human Resources, Raceway and Food and Beverage. As the
new Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Moore will work to ensure
the effective implementation of financial services, enhancing
new concepts regarding budgeting and the administration of
respective operating costs and revenues.
Mr. McGill’s 25-year history with the Association encompasses
Human Resources, Marketing, Business and Project Development
(Western Fair IMAX® Theatre and Western Fair Sports Centre)
and recently strategic planning initiatives as the Assistant
General Manager. Doug will take on the position of Corporate
Affairs Officer overseeing all Human Resource responsibilities
as well as Government Affairs, Corporate Communications and
Community Affairs. Doug has also served in the London community
as President of Tourism London and is currently a Director
on the board of the London Chamber of Commerce. He is a past
chairman and C.E.O. of the Human Resources Professionals of
Ontario.
Western Fair believes this corporate restructuring along
with the vast knowledge and determination of these four established
leaders will better position the Association as a dynamic
and effective high-calibre event centre.
