The Western Fair Association will be hosting the annual Warriors’
Day Parade on Saturday, September 9, 2006 beginning with march-off
from Boyle Memorial Community Centre, Princess Avenue and
Charlotte Street at 1115 hours.
This is the 55th Warriors’ Day Parade since its beginning
in 1952.
The parade will move from Boyle Memorial Community Centre
to the Western Fairgrounds, entering the grounds through the
King Street gate and concluding inside the Grandstand.
The Warriors’ Day Parade is the largest and most colourful
in Southwestern Ontario. The parade consists of vintage military
vehicles, horses in full World War 1 kit, marching units,
colour parties, colour guards and bands from veterans’
units, military units, legion branches, cadet units and police
units from the surrounding area, as well as American veterans
from different areas of the United States. Again, this year
the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association will be doing a
fly past, including the missing man formation, during the
ceremonies.
Our veterans would appreciate as much media coverage of this
event as possible.
