The Western Fair Association announced a series of monetary
donations, throughout the ten-day annual Fair, totalling $50,000.
Ken Monteith, Campaign Chairperson for the Ridgetown College
Agri-Food Foundation, which received $15,000, is preparing
for groundbreaking celebrations and thanked Western Fair “for
the generous gift to the Rudy H Brown Rural Development Centre
campaign, which will support the development of young producers
and agribusiness leaders entering the Ontario agri-food industry.
Your support will also benefit important research and extension
services for rural Ontario delivered by the Ridgetown College
campus, University of Guelph,"
Other beneficiaries this year were the London Food Bank,
Shedden Agricultural Society, the McCormick Home and Merrymount
Children’s Centre. Dave Curtis, Merrymount’s President
wrote to say that “Merrymount is pleased to share more
than 130 years of tradition with London families just like
the Western Fair. As the Fair celebrated a significant birthday,
Merrymount was delighted to receive a very generous donation
of $15,000 which will be used to sponsor both a bedroom and
a play nook in our renovated residential second floor. We
thank the Western Fair and look forward to many more years
of working together!"
All organizations were recognized at a series of public events
during the Western Fair. The funds were donated from Western
Fair’s Community Enhancement Fund, established from
a 1% collection of slot machine revenue.
Western Fair appreciates the support we receive from our
community and we are thrilled that we can return that support
in the form of donations to worthy organizations like the
ones we were able to assist this year.
